Jacob Elordi Was Hospitalized While Filming Wuthering Heights

Jacob Elordi has revealed that filming the Romantic-Drama movie Wuthering Heights was not easy for him. During the early days of production, the actor suffered a serious injury off camera and had to be hospitalized.

Jacob plays Heathcliff, one of the most intense characters from Emily Brontë’s novel. In an interview with Esquire, Jacob explained that the accident happened at the place where he was staying during filming. It was not part of a stunt or action scene.

He shared that after a long day on set, he decided to clean himself properly. While using a steam shower, he leaned back and accidentally pressed his back against a hot steam knob. The heat was so strong that it caused a second-degree burn on his back.

Jacob said he stood up, screaming in pain. When he returned to work the following Monday, the injury was serious enough that he needed medical treatment. The incident happened in the first week of filming, which worried the production team.

Director Emerald Fennell later shared that she was shocked when she received a message saying Jacob was in the hospital. At first, she feared something very serious had happened. She was relieved when she learned it was a burn and that Jacob was safe.

Jacob joked about the moment later, saying it felt like something Daniel Day-Lewis might do for a role. However, he made it clear that the injury was not planned and happened by accident.

Despite the injury, Jacob continued filming and also formed a strong bond with his co-star Margot Robbie, who plays Catherine. Both actors said they became very close during the shoot, which helped them perform intense scenes together.

This behind-the-scenes story shows how demanding film roles can be and how actors sometimes face real risks while bringing classic stories to life.
