He explained that the sound of the camera was like a kitchen blender running right next to him. Because of this noise, filming normal talking scenes became very difficult. Actors could not clearly hear each other during dialogue.
To solve this problem, the team built a special structure around the IMAX camera. They also used mirrors so actors could keep eye contact while speaking. This helped them record clear dialogue while still using the large cameras Nolan wanted.
The idea to film the entire movie in IMAX came directly from Christopher Nolan. Even IMAX experts first believed it was not possible. There were many technical problems to fix, but Nolan pushed the team to find solutions. In the end, they made it work.
