Fans loved the romantic bathtub scene in Bridgerton Season 4, but for actress Yerin Ha, filming it was not as dreamy as it looked on screen.
While promoting Part 2 of the new season, Yerin shared that she developed a painful skin condition after shooting the scene with her co-star Luke Thompson. The two actors spent nearly six to seven hours in a bathtub while filming the intimate moment between Sophie and Benedict.
Yerin explained that before getting into the water, she used baby powder on her skin to help with costume tape and intimacy wear. However, the mix of powder and bath water caused a reaction. The next day, she broke out in hives and later developed folliculitis, which is an infection of the hair follicles.
According to medical sources like the Cleveland Clinic, folliculitis can cause red bumps and irritation on the skin. Yerin said she needed steroid cream to treat the condition. She laughed about it later and admitted, “I blame myself,” saying she might just have sensitive skin.
Interestingly, Luke Thompson did not experience any skin problems from filming the same scene. Yerin joked that it was just her body reacting badly.
This update adds a new behind-the-scenes layer to the popular bathtub sequence. Earlier, Luke and Yerin had also spoken about the logistical challenges of filming the water scene and trying not to “drown” during long takes.
Luke has also shared in another interview which emotional moment from Season 4 he loved filming the most.
Despite the uncomfortable experience, Yerin said she is proud of how the scene turned out. Season 4 continues to focus on the romantic journey of Benedict and Sophie, and fans are already curious about what Season 5 might bring.
Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
