Spot Filming Location is an independent website about real U.S. movie and TV filming locations that people can actually visit. We write for travelers who want to plan a trip around a favorite film or show, whether that means a one-day walk through a historic town or a road trip across several states.
The site is run by a small team. We are not a studio, a film office or a tour operator, and we are not affiliated with the productions, venues or businesses we write about.
What we cover
- Filming location guides. Where scenes were filmed, which places you can visit, what is private or closed, and how to plan the trip, including parking, nearby stops and respectful-visit tips.
- Planning guides. Practical articles on set-jetting, finding out what is filming in your city, and visiting filming locations without bothering residents.
- Roundups. Seasonal lists of real places tied to Halloween, Christmas and other favorites.
How we work
Every article is researched from sources we can point to: official venue, tourism and film office pages, established publications and public records. We link to the specific page that supports a claim, not a site’s homepage. We state hours, prices and ticket details only when we have read them on an official page, and we say when we read them so you know to check again. Our full standards are in our Editorial Policy, and if we get something wrong, our Corrections Policy explains how to tell us and what we do about it.
Private homes and respectful visits
Many famous filming locations are people’s homes. We do not publish full street addresses for private residences, we do not encourage anyone to go onto private property, and we describe how to see a place from public property only. We do not publish the homes of celebrities, the hotels where cast and crew stay, or anyone’s real-time location.
Community submissions
We plan to open the site to reader submissions of filming locations and public shoot sightings. Everything submitted will be reviewed before it is published. The rules are already in our Submission Guidelines, so you can see what we will accept.
How the site is funded
The site may show advertising and may include affiliate links. Our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure explains how this works and why it does not influence what we write.
