Spot Filming Location Submit a location

Submission Guidelines

We welcome reader submissions about real filming locations that other visitors can see from public property. These guidelines explain what we accept, what we cannot publish, and how submissions are handled. Community submissions are coming soon. Until a submission form is available, you can send material to [email protected] with the subject line “Submission.”

What you can submit

  • Filming locations. A place where a movie or TV scene was filmed that visitors can legitimately see, such as a public building, park, street, business or museum. Please tell us the title, the scene if you know it, the town and state, and how you know it was a filming location, with a link to a source if possible.
  • Sightings of shoots in public. A production you saw filming in a public place, such as crews, trucks or street closures. Tell us the city, the general area, the date and what you saw. Do not guess at the title unless it was posted publicly.
  • Visitor updates. Changes to hours, closures, signage or access at a place we have covered, ideally with a link to the official page.

Photo rules

  • Your own photos only. Send only photographs you took yourself and have the right to share.
  • No movie stills. We cannot accept stills, posters, screenshots, promotional images, or frames from a film or show.
  • No photos taken by others. Do not send images you found online or that someone else took, even if you have credited them.
  • No faces of private people or children. Do not send photos in which private individuals, residents or children can be identified. Crop or retake the photo.
  • No photos taken from private property unless you had the owner’s permission. Photos should be taken from public places.

Privacy rules

To protect residents and the people involved in productions, we will not publish:

  • House numbers or full addresses for private homes. Tell us the town and street at most. If you think a private home is relevant, do not include its address.
  • Celebrities’ homes, past or present.
  • Hotels or lodging where cast or crew stay.
  • Real-time locations of any person, including actors and crew members, or details that make it easy to find them.
  • Personal information about residents or neighbors.
  • Anything that encourages trespassing, such as directions to get around a fence or entrances that are closed to the public.

How submissions are reviewed

Everything is reviewed by a person before it is published. We may verify a location against official or published sources, ask you for more information, edit your text for clarity and accuracy, crop or resize photos, or decline a submission. We cannot promise to publish every submission or to reply to everyone. We do not pay for submissions.

License you grant to us

By sending us text, photos or other material, you confirm that:

  • you created it yourself, or you have permission to share it;
  • it does not infringe anyone else’s rights or violate these guidelines; and
  • you are old enough to enter this agreement, or have a parent or guardian’s permission.

You keep ownership of what you submit. You grant Spot Filming Location a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to publish, display, reproduce, edit, crop and adapt your submission on this website and in our related promotion, such as social media posts about the site. We will credit you by name or username if you ask us to, and you can ask us to remove your submission from the site later by emailing us. Removal from the site does not affect copies already shared by third parties or earlier uses that cannot reasonably be undone.
