This page sets out the editorial standards Spot Filming Location follows on every article we publish. It is written and maintained by the site’s editor, Miles Sterling, and updated as those standards evolve.
Our Editorial Mission
Spot Filming Location exists to be the clearest, most carefully sourced answer to “where was this filmed?” — whether the question is about a movie released last week, a Hallmark holiday romance from three years ago, or a long-running TV drama. We cover active filming news the same way: clearly, with sources, and without speculation dressed up as fact.
Sourcing Standards
Every news report on this site is built on identifiable sources. For an item to be published as confirmed news, at least one of the following must be true:
- The news has been reported by two or more credible trade outlets (Deadline, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, BBC, Radio Times, What’s on Netflix, regional national broadsheets).
- The news has been announced by an official party — studio, network, streamer, production company, talent agency, or a verified individual involved with the production.
- Primary documentary evidence exists, such as published film permit filings or regional film commission announcements.
When something falls short of that bar but is still reportable, the article makes the uncertainty explicit. “Reportedly,” “according to,” and “unconfirmed” are used deliberately, not as filler.
Location Verification
For filming location guides, the standard is higher because the content is meant to be evergreen. A location is listed in a guide only when at least one of the following is true:
- The location has been confirmed publicly by the production, cast, director, or relevant regional film office.
- The location has been independently identified through verifiable evidence (matching architectural details, geotagged on-set photos from credible sources, published making-of materials).
- Multiple reputable reporting outlets have published the same identification.
When we list a real-world address, we include the most specific verifiable level — sometimes a street and neighborhood, sometimes only a town or region, depending on what is responsibly knowable.
Authorship and AI Policy
Every published article is written, edited, and reviewed by Miles Sterling. Spot Filming Location does not publish AI-generated articles. Generative AI tools may be used to assist with limited editorial tasks — for example, checking grammar, brainstorming headline options, or summarising publicly available material as a starting research note — but no article is published without being substantially rewritten, fact-checked, and edited by the named editor.
Independence and Conflicts of Interest
Spot Filming Location is independently owned and operated. The site has no affiliation with any studio, streamer, network, distributor, talent agency, production company, or tourism board. Editorial decisions are not shared in advance with any external party. Any future commercial partnership that could create the appearance of a conflict will be disclosed on the relevant article.
Advertising
The site is supported by display advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense and are placed automatically. Advertisers have no input into editorial coverage and no advance notice of any article. Editorial content and advertising are kept clearly separate.
Corrections
Mistakes get a visible, dated correction note appended to the article. The standards for what qualifies as a correction and how it is logged live on the Corrections Policy page.
Contact
If you have a concern about something we’ve published, a correction to request, or a question about how a story was sourced, the Contact page has the best ways to reach the editor.
