Fans of historical drama series The Chosen have exciting news. Creator and director Dallas Jenkins has officially revealed when Season 6 will be released and shared updates about the final season.
Speaking at ChosenCon in Charlotte, North Carolina, Jenkins told fans that Episodes 1 through 6 of Season 6 will premiere this fall on Prime Video. The season finale, which focuses on the crucifixion of Jesus, will arrive in theaters in spring 2027.
Jenkins said Season 6 is the biggest and most ambitious season yet. He explained that it took longer to film than any previous season. The team used more visual effects, detailed translations, and complex editing than ever before. Some scenes were even filmed in Italy, though modern buildings had to be digitally removed to match the biblical setting.
The director also shared major news about Season 7, which will be the final season of the series. Filming for Season 7 is expected to begin in just a few weeks. This last chapter will continue the story after the crucifixion and move into events from the Book of Acts, including the ascension.
In addition to the main series, Jenkins announced other upcoming projects. One is “The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls,” an adventure reality series that will also stream on Prime Video. Another project, an eight-episode series called “Joseph of Egypt,” is currently in post-production and may release in early 2027.
Jenkins said he plans to take a short break after finishing Season 7 before starting two new series, including one about Moses and another focusing on the Apostle Paul.
With Season 6 on the way and filming for the final season about to begin, fans can expect an emotional and powerful conclusion to one of the most popular faith-based shows in recent years.
