Married At First Sight star Gia Fleur has opened up about a surprising behind-the-scenes secret from the popular Channel 9 reality show — and it’s something most fans never knew.
The 35-year-old revealed that brides on the show have almost no say in what they wear on their big day. In a message shared with fans thinking about applying for the next season, Gia made it very clear how things really work on set.
“You don’t get to choose your wedding dress,” she said. “I wouldn’t have chosen the dress I had. I wanted something a bit more figure-forming.”
Gia also shared that the show’s producers wanted her to cover up her tattoos, which played a big role in the final dress choice.
For her wedding, Gia wore a slim, fitted gown by European designers Milla Nova. The dress featured a plunging neckline and a thigh-high split. She also wore a high-neck bridal capelet, a tiara, and carried a bouquet of lilies. While the look was stunning, it came with some trouble — a sudden gust of wind on the beach caused an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction as she walked down the aisle.
Gia also revealed that couples don’t get to choose where their wedding takes place. Her ceremony was held on the beach, and she said she would have picked a very different style of dress had she known the location ahead of time. To make things worse, she had to take off her high heels because of the sand.
During the 2026 season of MAFS, Gia was matched with Scott McCristal from Queensland. However, the two are no longer together after the experiment ended.
Now back to real life, Gia is focusing on her growing career as a home renovator and property investor. In a conversation with New Idea, she shared that she has already flipped six houses — something most fans didn’t know about her. She entered MAFS as a disability support worker, but has since made a big career shift.
Her nine-year-old daughter, Willa, even helps out with the renovations — from laying carpets to painting walls.
As for her future on reality TV, Gia hasn’t ruled it out. She said The Block, another popular Channel 9 renovation show, would be at the “top of her list” if she ever steps in front of the cameras again.
