The hit teen horror drama series Stranger Things is known for its huge monsters, intense visual effects, and massive sets, but a recent behind-the-scenes video has surprised everyone. The challenge had nothing to do with the Upside Down. Instead, it came from something very simple: Mike Wheeler riding a bicycle. A new clip shared by the Internet Hall of Fame on X shows how this small moment became a big filming problem for the makers.
The video explains that Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, did not know how to ride a bicycle during the time they needed to shoot the scene. What looked like an easy shot turned into a major technical task. Mike needed to look confident on the bike, so the makers had to create the scene in a special way.
A stunt rider was hired to perform the cycling movements. The rider was filmed in front of a green screen, and every motion was tracked through software. The team then built a digital body using those captured movements. After that, Mike’s head was added by cropping it from other footage and matching it perfectly to the animated body. Later, the background and other details were added to complete the moment. Even though the final scene lasts just a few seconds, it took a lot of time and careful work. This is one of the reasons why the show’s budget reached $400M.
The video ends with a sweet and funny moment. After the bike sequence, Mike happily says he finally learned how to ride. Eleven quickly teases him, saying she could have done it with her mind. Max stands by, smiling. This small scene reminds fans why the characters feel warm and real.
Now, the team is getting ready for Volume 2 of Stranger Things Season 5, which will release on December 26, 2025. This behind-the-scenes reveal has made fans even more excited for what comes next.
